I tested out the new Avon Mark liquid lip lacquers and this is what I thought.

I was sent five Avon Mark liquid lip lacquers to test out. Everyone knows that I am a sucker for lip products, so needless to say, I was rather excited.

I’ve been using various products in the Avon Mark range and have been pleasantly surprised by it.

The Mark range

I feel like the Avon Mark range was created to attract the attention of the younger generation or rather millennials. Packaging and logos are modern, vibrant and even the name sounds young. We have a giggle at home quite often as my boyfriend’s name is Mark – “I am so obsessed that I even have his name sprawled all over my makeup”. In reality the name is derived from the tag line for the range “make your mark”. I kind of love that. That’s what our generation is all about, we all want to feel like we’re leaving our mark and making a unique contribution to the world.

The lip lacquer comes in 12 shades, each with sexy names. The five I was sent were:

  • TKO
  • Irresistible
  • Fabulosity
  • Plump up the jam
  • Man eater

I liked the packaging, as with all the Avon Mark ranges, it’s simple and modern. The liquid lip lacquers come in small, clear, rectangle tubes and a solid black top. It comes with a diamond-shaped applicator wand. The shades range from nudes to deep colours. I prefer the more vibrant shades like the reds and pinks purely because it goes well with my pale complexion.

My favourites were: Irresistible and TKO

Product promise

  • Built-in primer – high pigment, long-lasting colour that doesn’t bleed.

The lip lacquer is vibrant in colour and doesn’t bleed. I found that it lasts for a good couple of hours and survives eating snacks and having a drink or two.

  • Precision brush – precision sculpting brush for definition that doesn’t smudge.

It comes with a diamond-shaped brush that is said to be for precision application. I won’t lie, I wasn’t too impressed with the applicator brush. It might                work for some, but it didn’t for me. My advice is to use it quite gently and take time to fill in your lips.

  • Lasts for hours – magnet-lock technology that keeps matt in place with a hydrating feel.

The colour lasted for quite a long time and my lips felt hydrated throughout.

My impressions in general

The liquid itself felt plush and almost creamy, which was quite pleasing, but because of this I applied a bit too much the first time around. Besides from the applicator wand not being my favourite, it went on effortlessly. Again don’t be fooled, a little goes a long way. I recommend that you blot quite well after application to remove extra liquid. Do NOT rub your lips together before the liquid is completely dry. If you want to build on the colour for a more intense look, apply another layer once the first one is completely dry.

I am generally happy with the range and would recommend it to my friends. It’s long-lasting and you only need a little bit at a time, thus the 7ml tube will last a long time.

Avon Mark matt liquids are on special at the moment for R 84,90 each and going forward will be sold for R199.90. Stock up for the festive season.
